China Rebukes U.S. Remarks on WWII Documents
(MENAFN) China's foreign ministry on Wednesday rejected recent U.S. comments regarding World War II-era documents, reaffirming that such unilateral distortions cannot alter global commitment to the one-China principle.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the statement during a regular press briefing, responding to remarks from a U.S. State Department spokesperson who claimed that key documents, including the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation, do not settle Taiwan's final political status.
Emphasizing that the one-China principle represents a broad international consensus, Lin urged the U.S. to honor the principle and the three bilateral China-U.S. joint communiques, cease interfering in Taiwan-related matters, and stop supporting "Taiwan independence" in any form.
"Stop manipulating the Taiwan question, conniving or supporting 'Taiwan independence' in any form, and refrain from interfering in China's internal affairs," Lin asserted.
